CHRISTCHURCH: MY FIRST AFTER-KINDY BIKE RIDE

On Tuesday I picked up my new old seat, yesterday we spent the evening mounting it to the bike, this morning I got my brand new helmet and after the kindy sheepy and I – FINALLY! – went for our first bike ride. In the beginning it looked like mummy had completely forgotten how to ride a bike but then she remembered and we could start enjoying it. I was still holding tight on the sheepy and she was holding tight on me but we survived and it was good fun.

It might seem that since I came back from Canada I have become pretty lazy but actually, the opposite is true.

First of all I moved in with Gella, the dog, who I was looking after while her family was on holiday in Australia. There in a beautiful house in Templeton I celebrated my second birthday. Daddy took me to see penguins in the Antarctic center and we had a lot of fun, then I got to blow off two candles on a delicious cake mummy had made just for me.

I started going to the kindy again. At first it was a bit hard to say bye to mummy in the morning but then I got used to. I met new friends and found out there was a mountain of toys I can play with all day long. My kindy also has a huge backyard, a sandpit and two chickens that we can chase whenever we want.

I have already explored a few places in and around Christchurch as well. I climbed a very steep path with superb views towards Lyttleton where my new friends and I enjoyed well deserved ice cream. With daddy I went riding my “caa-caa” on the beach in Sumner and with mummy I walked along cliffs above a beach called Taylor´s Mistake. In Quarry Park I had a lot of fun running across a carved wooden bridge and at the playground in Victoria Park I got very jealous when mum was helping a little girl to climb a ladder – because MUMMY is MINE, ONLY MINE!

Then one day we gathered all toilet paper rolls we could find, bought eyes and made scary decorations. Mum wanted to craft a lot of them but I thought that the more eyes you put on a roll the better, so we ended up having only 5. Like last year I also carved a pumpkin. Then Halloween finally came and for the kindy party I dresses up like a witch. I was very scary but I have to admit that some of my mates were blood-curdling!

Akaroa is a small town some 80 kilometers from my place and daddy and I went there for a weekend. These days I spend a lot of time by the ocean so mummy decided that I needed to know how to swim. Now every Sunday morning I go to King´s Swim School and learn how to blow bubbles, kick my legs and dive. I have to admit that diving is not my favorite activity but the teacher says I will get there.

And that´s my new life in New Zealand. Good enough, aye?

Your Annie
