TASMAN GLACIER: ICE IS ICY COLD

Have I mentioned that daddy is awesome yet? Well, he is even more awesome today because he took me for a walk on the ice! When he doesn´t go in the mountains for days he guides people on the Tasman glacier. It is not far from our little house in Mount Cook, but you can´t walk there. Guess what? You have to take a helicopter, woohoo!

There were only two people booked for the midday trip and dad called mum that if we wanted we could go up there as well. Sure I wanted to go. But man, the helicopter was noisy! Fortunately I got huge headphones so I couldn´t hear much. The views of Mount Cook and all the snowy mountains were cool but at the moment I was more interested in the older German couple who was going up there with us. Mum took a lot of pictures though, I guess she will show me one day.

Chris is dad´s friend and colleague and because he took care of the Germans we had daddy all for ourselves. Mum was excited to get all the information about the glacier. Dad was excited much less. But he showed us around, took us to a crevasse and a cool ice tunnel. Not that I remember much of that: he was nice and warm and I went to sleep pretty much straight after we started walking.

Before the time for the helicopter flight back came, we had a small picnic on the glacier and I got my first ice lesson: ice is nice and white. And if you touch it, it is really cold. Brrrrr.
