AUSTRIA: FIRST SKI TEASING. OR WILL IT BE SNOWBOARDING?

Dad was sick of the city. Fair enough. On Friday 30th of December mum collected our rental car and we set off for Austria. About 150 km past Vienna, 260 km and 3,5-hour ride from Brno there is a small family hotel called Gasthof Almblick where we spent a week. The lady-owner was super cool, our room very nice and breakfasts and dinners well representing Austrian hospitality (expressed the other way: huge!).
But what was most important was a little ski lift just behind the house. One slope but long enough, well maintained and owned by the same family. Plus a day pass for 40 Euros and mum and dad being able to share one.
Every day the first thing in the morning dad rented his skis and went to “smash some powder” (he is addicted I think) while mum and I headed for a walk to nearby forests. In the afternoon it was mum´s turn and chance to remember how to get from the top to the bottom with no broken limbs. Not the best skier ever, is she?
Well, I can´t wait to show them both how to do it properly pretty soon. Once I start walking nothing can stop me, right? I might prefer snowboarding though. It would certainly give dad a heart attack :-).
The night before we were supposed to leave it started snowing and it was snowing all night long and it was still snowing in the morning when we were setting off. It had its consequences: 1. far from ideal road conditions, 2. mum (at the time located in the passenger seat) wanting to use snow chains (which she insisted on having but was unwilling to pay for – she paid in the end) immediately, 3. dad (at the time situated behind the steering wheel) inclined to wait and drive with no chains as long as possible, 4. an argument between mum and dad, 5. a 7 instead of 3.5-hour drive back home, 6. me bored to death protesting loudly in the car seat, 7. returning the car which was supposed to be back at 4 pm at 4.05.
